Dr. Galen R. Collins Founder
Galen Collins, Ph.D., a noted hospitality educator and author, is the founder
of the Hospitality College Consulting Services, an organization that provides innovative training and consulting services
and products for educators and practitioners in the fields of customer service, operations, and technology.
Collins has been a professor at the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management at Northern Arizona University since its beginnings as a free-standing school in 1987. Collins is noted for his breadth of knowledge on hospitality
information technology and customer service and his ability to convey concepts in an easily understood manner. Collins' industry experience includes work with Club Corporation of America, Hilton Hotels,
Marriott International, Ramada Corporation, Tony Roma's, Walt Disney World, Disneyland Hotel, and the Arizona Office
of Tourism. Collins has co-authored the following texts: Hospitality Information Technology: Learning How to Use It (8th edition), A Satellite-based Internet Instructional System, and Overcoming the Customer Service Syndrome: How to Achieve and Sustain High Customer Service (third edition). Collins is listed on the copyright of an innovative, online customer service training program created in
2002 (see customer service demo for frontline employees). He has also published articles in trade and academic journals, including the Cornell Quarterly, Hospitality Education and
Research Journal, Hotel and Motel Management, FIU Hospitality Review, Journal of Teaching in Travel and Tourism, Journal of
Distance Learning Administration, Hospitality and Tourism Educator, and Journal of Information technolog Impact. He is co-founder of the Hospitality Information Technology Association (HITA). He received his B.B.A and M.S. degrees from Florida International University and his Ph.D. from the Graduate School
of Compuer and Information Sciences at Nova Southeastern University.
